Bread and Butter Pudding
Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread, crusts removed
- Butter (for spreading)
- 3 tbsp caster sugar
- 1/4 cup sultanas
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
- 4 eggs, lightly beaten
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
Method
- Spread bread with butter and cut into 2 cm cubes.
- Place bread cubes, caster sugar, and sultanas into a 1.25L casserole dish.
- Heat milk and vanilla essence in the microwave on high for 3 minutes.
- Gradually whisk the hot milk into the eggs, then pour over the bread mixture.
- Sprinkle the top with brown sugar and nutmeg.
- Cook in the microwave on medium-low for 13–15 minutes, or until set.
- Allow to stand for 5–10 minutes before serving.
